Time for a New Beginning

You’ve made it to 2021!

After a year full of challenges where we all tested ourselves in ways we never imagined, we are beginning a new year. Despite the rise in COVID-19 cases in December, we now have multiple vaccines, which is a reason to be optimistic.

January has always been the month for marketers to reboot and start the new year with a clean slate. This will definitely be the case in 2021.

Try Something New

A new year is a great time to try a new channel or a new advertising tactic that was previously under consideration. Advertising rates are lower than in Q4 on a lot of platforms, ad types, and geographies. Therefore, now is a great time to test TikTok or Instagram Reels or to try conversational commerce.

When trying a new ad solution, define your budget, and set realistic objectives with actual business KPIs. It’s probably a good idea to A/B test this campaign, and to solicit feedback from within your organization regarding this new ad solution you’re testing.

At CC, we have lots of experience and are happy to help you implement your new ad solution.

Recap what was learned in 2020

While 2020 is still fresh in your head, now’s a good time to recap for you and your team your marketing campaigns from 2020, including what was achieved and what lessoned were learned (if you haven’t done so already).

As part of this process, highlight the tactics and channels which you’ll increase ad spend in 2021, and the tactics and channels which will be cut.

Even if you no longer create annual marketing plans, it could help you manage your marketing spend in 2021 if you have compiled a loose marketing plan – even with bullet points – that will help you manage your marketing in the coming year.

Contingency Plan

As we learned last year, it never hurts to have a contingency plan on your desktop. Analyzing how your team dealt with COVID-19 – what you’re team did right, and what could’ve been improved – will help you to put together your contingency plan so that it will be ready should you need it (though we hope you won’t need it).

Welcome to the Return to Normal

At CC, we’re inherently optimistic people, so we’re planning for a return to ‘business as usual’.

But the road will be bumpy, and there still might be another wave of COVID-19 before enough people are vaccinated (or had COVID-19).

So be optimistic about 2021, but be realistic, too.

Moving beyond Zoom

As we prepare for the return to normal, are there things which you can do now? Maybe we can meet partners for a socially distanced coffee or bike ride in the park.

OR set up a treasure hunt in a local park and invite a leading partner to participate.

The point is, there are ways to move beyond Zoom. Let’s find creative ways to engage with colleagues and partners as we start 2021.

Whether you need advice on that test campaign or looking to upgrade your marketing in 2021, CC is here for you. Just give us a call or send an email.
